Project Research

MY RESEARCH

My concept is Music, Therefore i am going to be making a music video. Ive experimented some different ways of how i would like for my video to look like, and i decided to make my music video black and white, i have many favourite music clips that are in black and white and these are some of the ones that inspired me to have an idea of how i would create this, and also other research on editing techniques that i looked up on youtube as well.

This music video is one of the main videos i have watched that inspired me to make a black and white music video because it looked so cool!.

Kid Ink - No Miracles

In this part of this music clip, i enjoyed the flickering of the lights that they used in it, it looked so cool and i wanted to do something like that too so i did a little bit of it myself in my project.

Task Nine: Spatial Relation Technique

What do you see?
What is the idea that the artist is communicating?
What is working?
What is not working?
What would you do differently?

I see Andy Worhol standing still in front of a wall that looks like a projector screen projection in what looks like a studio, holding a television looking square object that looks like it has no signal and speaking some other language.
I think Worhol is advertising a video tape product or brand in another language.
The camera is nice and still, not shaky.
It just feels awkward, as if he's taking too long to speak, or maybe forgot what to say lol.
Change the music and change his hair colour lol.

Task 7: Soviet Montage

What worked

I enjoyed the way it looked, it had a feel of an actual music video

I think the way the camera was used made it look cool, we had hand held the most, and just played with it to give it a more follow the subject feel, and a little bit of some dolly shots on a tripod.

What didn't work

I think the lighting looks too saturated? not too sure if thats the word to describe it but i just mean that it would've looked better if the light looked like a plane white, so it doesnt look yellow or whatever.

With that being said, i think that the clip should be black and white, not coloured, it will look better and look more clean without colour.

What next?

Build of what we have started and experiment some more from this video!.

What worked

Definitely a step up from the video with colour, i think black and white looks the best for the project.

What didn't work

The location can be different next time and it will look way better than this, also i would like to cut down on the effects as well, just so its not so complicated, but then that depends on what kind of song we will be using.
